Vision Board Adventures

vision board.jpg

I did my first vision board 2 years ago, and it changed my life. I have always loved the idea of them, but had no idea of the power behind them. There is power whether that power comes from you setting the intention to create change in your life, or some mystical magical force out there creating change, something happens.

I wasn't sure what to think about my first board. It seemed to be a hodgepodge of images. I put things on there that didn't really make any sense to me at the time. One thing I knew was that I wanted to put a ring on it, you know, the kind of ring a certain person would give you if they wanted to spend more time with you, but I didn't. Instead I put a big giant YES on my board. Back in 2015 I was secretly hoping that my boyfriend would ask me to marry him. We had just moved in together earlier that year, we had been dating for 6 years, it was time for something to happen. Other than that that ring? I didn't really know what I was doing. Adventure, yes please. Yoga, of course. Anything else I'm missing?

I hung the vision board on the wall in our bedroom by my desk. I looked at it every single day. My experience of watching things unfold over that year was incredible. Those images that I didn't think made any sense started to come clear. I put three pictures of a kitchen on there. I had no idea why. I put a cocktail on there, just one thank you very much. And other things that I liked but didn't really understand. The kitchen? A few months later we bought a house that would need a new kitchen and those kitchens on my board were the same layout as our new one. The giant YES? He proposed on the top of the empire state building in April of 2016. The cocktail? I quit drinking September 1st 2016 because one was never really enough.

To say I'm a believer would be an understatement. I now do one every year. I wrote a little guide to vision boarding for our WoA members. I'm hosting a workshop in a few days. I'm all in here. This manifesting with images on poster board and glue is incredibly powerful. Our subconscious knows what it's doing by understanding our desires and dreams when we don't really understand them ourselves. .

When you are ready to create your vision board here are a few things to keep in mind.

  • Trust your intuition here. Just go through the magazines and pull out what feels right. Maybe even take few minutes before you start to center yourself. Breathe.
  • Once you have your images lay them out on your board. You can section the board off in different areas in your life such as career, love, adventure, or fitness.
  • Put that board up where you see it everyday for the daily reminder of what you are working towards.
  • Have fun

Now, as much as I believe in the magic of the vision board, I believe you have to actively work to make things happen in your life. That is why you should put it where you can see it daily. A constant reminder of what you want to invite into your life. Try setting just one goal each day that will get you closer to what you put on your board.

The vision board is a tool to help you create more clarity around your goals, but it doesn't have to be limited to goals. You can use your vision board to evoke all the feels! That's right, use your board to create good feelings. Create a beautiful board with images that make you happy, confident, or strong. Vision boards don't always have to be a physical object.

As you can see there are many ways to use a vision board and only you know the way that will work best for you. Trust your intuition when you start working with your board. Take a few deep breaths to center yourself and go!
